[ANN] 周六新 Org*Dev*Meetup：一起在线为 Org mode 贡献代码

Dear all,

Some of you may know about the monthly OrgMeetup [1] where we discuss random topics about Org mode. I would like to experiment a bit with the format, and run a second meetup.

I did this development version of meetup last month, but it was not suitable for Chinese time zone. I want #2 meetup this month to be better aligned with your time zone.

Unlike OrgMeetup where we often discuss general Org mode usage, OrgDevMeetup will aim to get more code contributors on board - I want to help people who want to contribute but do not know how to get started, or are confused about the large Org code base.

The idea is simple:

  1. I will work on recent bugs/patches/feature requests
  2. People can ask me anything or comment on the code or development along the way
  3. If someone wants to try, we can quickly find a fresh bug or a feature worth fixing or implementing, and get the code done together, with me helping with any obstacles encountered along the way.

上个月我做了这个开发版的聚会，但时间对中国时区不太友好。我希望本月第二次 OrgDevMeetup 能更好地配合你们的时区。

与 OrgMeetup 通常讨论 Org mode 的日常使用不同，OrgDevMeetup 的目标是让更多代码贡献者加入——我想帮助那些想贡献但不知道如何入手、或面对庞大的 Org 代码库感到困惑的人。

思路很简单：

  1. 我会处理近期的 bug、补丁或功能请求
  2. 大家可以随时提问，或对代码和开发过程发表意见
  3. 如果有人想尝试，我们可以快速找一个值得修复的新 bug 或值得实现的功能，一起把代码写出来，我会在过程中帮助解决遇到的任何障碍

Today’s meetup went a bit more like I envision these meetups to go:

  • I showcased two patch reviews (one returned with comments, and one merged).

  • I ported a bug fix for org-element cache to bugfix branch, after the reporter tested things for a month.

  • Artsiom made a small contribution to WORG, going through the patch writing and submission process https://list.orgmode.org/orgmode/[email protected]/

  • We discussed a bit about why copyright assignment is needed
